Final Thought

So this is my last day in Florida. My plane leaves at like 4 tommorrow. It's been a great trip. I had a good time at the final day of the conference. It wasn't as great as the rest of it but it was a good time. I wish I could come back next year. It's $600. I don't know if it's worth me to pay $600 for sessions that don't really relate to me. If they had more that did relate I would definitly pay that. My focus now is to get to San Francisco for GDC. Well this is my last post. I had a lot of fun and learned a crapload of stuff. I'm off now to enjoy my day of nothing in Florida. :)

Convention Day 2...Day 3 in Florida

So I realized one thing today: I don't like photographers. All they do during classes that are just for them is take pictures of the speaker and his/her work. It's annoying as hell. However, aside from that my first class was amazing. I learned how to do simple yet amazing animations in photoshop. Awesome. I think it's time for lunch.

Convention Day 1...Day 2 for Florida

So first things first: I love Photoshop. And Florida. The convention was awesome. I woke up at like 7 in the morning and took a shower. After I was ready I walked to the convention center. It's like a 2 block walk from my hotel so it didn't take me long at all. After I got there I checked in and got my 800 page workbook. That thing is amazing. So the opening keynote began and I realized how big of nerds photoshop users are. The whole convention was Star Trek themed. They even did this little spoof video at the beginning. It was crazy. Then I went to the first couple of classes. They taught me more in 2 hours then years of tutorials and school. After the classes were done it was open expo time. I walked to the Wacom booth and stared at the tablet I want for a while. Then I walked around. I realized that the expo portion wasn't for me. I'm not a photographer so most of the people there didn't interest me. So I went to McDonalds and spent some time by myself. Then I finished off the classes and ordered pizza. That's about it for today. Met some pretty wacky people. Tommorrow there will be a lot more classes. I'm pumped. Happy Florida!

Florida Day 1

I arrived at about 4:30. Got to my hotel alright. I don't think they will charge me twice like last time I paid for a hotel. After I got here I took a walk. Florida is a very nice place. Even when it rains the sun shines pretty-like. I went to red lobster for dinner. Note to everyone that reads this: if you're going out to eat by yourself make sure you bring something to do or to read. It looks odd when you're sitting at a table by yourself staring at other people. Well that's all for now. Convention starts tommorrow. I'll return for more details.

So I leave for Florida in like six days. I'm going to write in this thing to let everyone know (including future Tom) what happens. Hopefully my hotel will have a computer I can use to update this thing. If not I am prepared to type all the entries on my Archos. That will take forever. For those that don't know I'm going by myself (because no one would come with me) to a Photoshop Conference that I won a $600 scholarship to. Go me.

Me == happy.

It has come to my attention that a game that came out in 2006 did not make my list. Although I never played this game in 2006 the awesomeness of this game must be made known to the public. This is the sole reason for me dedicating an entire post in my livejournal about this one game. What is this magical game you may ask? Guitar Hero II. Go to the store. Buy a PS2. Buy this game. Play the shit out of it.

Good day.

2006

While many of the people I know post their "Top 10 Albums of the Year" I don't listen to music. So what do I do?

Stankispoor's Top 11 Video Games of 2006

#11 NFL Head Coach (PS2)

This game brought a different perspective on a football game. After seeing what happened to the Lions in 2005 everyone felt that they could do a better job at coaching, and this game was their chance to prove it.

Pros: First game for a console to go this direction with a football game.

Cons: This game was very in depth...very...very...very...except when it came to what mattered...player/coach interaction.

#10 LEGO Star Wars II: The Original Trilogy (PS2)

I was never a fan of the original Star Wars. Hell I've only liked the last two that came out. The first LEGO Star Wars was amazingly fun. The only Star Wars game that I've liked. So it should be no surprise that the second one was just as good.

Pros: Fun. This game has a simple gameplay that's fun to play. Also the difficulty adjusts to how well you are playing.

Cons: Although the gameplay was fun some of the levels were just tedious and repetitive.

#9 Motorstorm Demo (PS3 Store)

The fact that this game is only a demo and made it on this list should speak for itself.

Pros: Great graphics, physics, and use of the SIXAXIS.

Cons: It's not the full game.

#8 Madden NFL 07 (PS2)

This was a tough choice. Do I go with the PS2 version or the PS3? In the end the amount of extras put into the PS2 version out weighed the graphics of the PS3.

Pros: Superstar Mode, Create-A-Team, and Owner Mode.

Cons: Not as pretty as the PS3. Also needed more coach interaction in Superstar Mode.

#7 Metal Gear Solid 3: Subsistence (PS2)

Metal Gear Solid 3 was an amazing game. This game gives you all of that plus a new camera and a lot of extras.

Pros: It's Metal Gear Solid 3.

Cons: It's still just Metal Gear Solid 3.

#6 Fight Night: Round 3 (PS3)

This game is visually amazing. From the cuts that appear on the guys face, to the sweat dripping down their back. Amazing.

Pros: First Person View in a boxing game. Now it's a must.

Cons: Not a very in depth game.

#5 The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess (WII)

OK. So I never sat down and played this game. However, I've watched enough for it to make it to #5. The older feel of the game is a welcome from the young, cartoon feel of Wind Waker.

Pros: It's a difficult game. That may be frustrating at times, but you feel good when you complete a puzzle.

Cons: This is just a little thing but...The game was mirrored from the original Gamecube version. They did this because the WII version uses the Wiimote to use the sword. Since Link is left handed and most people will hold the Wiimote in their right hand they wanted to mirror it so you're holding the Wiimote in the same hand Link is holding his sword in...Problem?...I hold the Wiimote in my left hand...

#4 Rayman Raving Rabbids (WII)

I don't even know what the hell you are in this game but you're fighting a bunch of pissed off rabbits. Crazy. This game is a great multi-player game, and it's a lot of fun.

Pros: 4 player party games + the Wiimote = Fun

Cons: You have to unlock the games in single player mode before you can play them in multi-player mode.

#3 Final Fantasy XII (PS2)

So I haven't finished it yet. So what? This is a great game. The battle system is a welcome change from all of the previous Final Fantasy games. The only thing I don't know is where this game would have landed if I finished the story.

Pros: The battle system.

Cons: The main characters in Final Fantasy look more like a girl in every game.

#2 Kingdom Hearts II (PS2)

Sora. Donald. Goofy. All running around to different Disney worlds to save their friends, again. It's a great game with a great story.

Pros: All of the different Disney character that you interact with is great. Plus you get to play as Mickey, the Yoda of the Disney kingdom.

Cons: This bugged me in the first game too. I would like to see more interaction between the NPCs (non-playable characters). I want to come to a world where Simba and Cloud are trying to find Aerial to save her from Jafar.

#1 Resistence: Fall of Man (PS3)

The PS3 has been out for a little over a month and one of its games is my game of the year. The graphics were great and the story was interesting (something other FPS lack).

Pros: About 30 levels in single player mode plus a 40 player online mode. The AI is intelligent and the amount of things happening in the game is amazing.

Cons: The game doesn't support online for two players on the same screen. That brings this game down some.

Games that I never played that would have most likely made the list:

Bully (PS2)
Metal Gear Solid: Portable Ops (PSP)
Gears of War (360)
Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion (360)

Back to school...

Well it's finally happened. After 2 years of paying off bills I'm out of debt and going back to school.

"But where are you going stank?"

Good question. http://www.iadtdetroit.com/

That is where i will be attending this fall. I'm going for a bachelors degree in video game design. That means if i'm successful then video game will be my life...even more so. It will take me about 3 years to complete. After i'm finished they have a job placement thing. Most places like this have that now but the thing that makes this school different is that they have what's called lifetime job placement. So if i come back 10 years later unemployed i can be like "hey bitch, i went to your school...find me a job." and they will.

That's about it...i'm excited...you should be too.

Fans

Let's see. Thanksgiving was AWESOME. For everyone that didn't come (which was pretty much everyone), it was so much fun. People really spend too much time overreacting about how hard it is to make a Thanksgiving dinner. Our dinner was so good and it took barely any effort. So I spent the whole day with Turner. Girl came over after a while. We ate. Then the wonder that is nerd, and the beauty that is Jen came over. We sat there talking for a bit and Walters came over. I haven't seen that kid in a while. Remember Walters? Anyway we watched us beat the shit out of each other in my game. Good times.

That's pretty much all that's been going on. I've been wanting to do something for awhile now. I really want to film but I have no ideas and we have no cast. So that sucks.

WARNING: IF YOU DON'T WANT TO BELIEVE THAT STANK HAS "LAYERS" (if you will) AND HE'S MORE THAN JUST A POOR KID DON'T READ THIS PART. Thank you.

I had this long rant planned. It was going to let a lot of anger out that I've had inside of me for a while, but I'm to lazy to type it. Also concerned. Do you ever feel like if you tell people something about you no one will ever look at you the same again? Like they'll judge you or always have a thought in the back of their head about it when they're around you. Well I've got some of those things that I'd like to tell people but I'm to big of a <> (<-- that represents a vagina and/or pussy). Maybe one day I'll tell those that want to listen but I doubt it. Also I have no idea what I want to do with my life. I was all set on going to some video game programming school, but then Madjoff had to go and not know what he was doing with editing movie shit. That made me want to do film stuff more then ever. I don't say this enough but I hate Madjoff. Oh and Christmas is coming up. Can't forget about this damn holiday. For any who don't know by now. POOR PEOPLE DON'T LIKE CHRISTMAS.

So that's my update. I might write one before next year but I doubt it.

Hot Girl of the Day: Joey Potter

I'm going to update...fancy that.

So let's see what's been going on...Well i went to the chiropractor and he told me my back is fucked up (no surprise there). Anyway it's going to cost me like $800 to fix it, and as you may have guessed by may name i don't have $800. So what does this mean for Stank. Well i can't do anything that involves money anymore, go to the movies, buy games, eat, have sex with jen...nothing.

"Well Stank it'll be ok. After your back is fixed you'll be in less pain and get to do things again."

That's a nice thought, but you're wrong. My mom and i got in to a big fight...well it wasn't really a fight as much as me just yelling at her. Anyway it came down to me now having to pay rent. So starting after my back gets fixed i have to pay rent to live in a place i wanted to stop living in like 3 years ago.

On to better news. We filmed recently. Hopefully we can figure out how to get our new show up soon. I had so much fun doing it. I miss filming. Well to hold you off until the show comes out here's a clip of something that has nothing to do with it.

http://poornerds.com/paul/farmerjack.mov

Hot Girl of the Day: Turner

i'm back

Well here I am back from chicago. What a weekend it was. I don't
feel like going into detail right now as it is late and i am tired. So
i'll just get on with the pictures.

Here's Turner at the train station. Luckly the train was on time.

Melissa and Turner, they're so cute.

Here's girl doing what she does best...Justin.

I think one day Turner and Walters will be married with children.

Hayden Christensen eat your heart out.

Now i just need to dream about Jen dying while giving birth to my child and everything will fall into place.

Gotta eat sometime.

And what better way to end it?

I might put more up tomorrow. <3
AN AVERAGE DAY AT THE PARK (part 2)

They made their way passed the large white tents. Stank knew that the tents must be holding captives. He was about to ask Justin if they should go help the people inside when Justin held his hand out.

"Stop" Justin said. "I think they might be looking this way."

Stank turned his attention toward the picnic table across the park. Sure enough it looked as if Gersky was looking straight at them. After a second however, he looked away and continued talking to the others.

"So," Stank began, "do you think if we save the future they'll put up statues in our honor?"

"No." Justin said shaking his head. "If we save the future the past will never know about it."

"What? People will never know of the adventure of Obi Won Justin and his apprentice young Stankwalker?" Stank asked worried.

"It appears that way Stankwalker."

They were approaching a fork in the road. In between the two roads was a stroller. As they came closer to the stroller Stank could have sworn he saw the inside giving off a faint glow.

"There's a baby inside." Justin said pointing to the stroller. "It's sleeping though."

"Too bad, it could have told us which road to take." Stank said laughing.

All of a sudden the stroller started to shake. Sparks were shooting out of both sides. Then the sparks came together in the air directly above the stroller. They formed an arrow pointing to the left.

"Well that's handy." said Stank. He looked more closely at the handle of the stroller. Etched across the handle was the word: MERLIN. "Do you think we should take the baby with us. It seems important."

"I ain't no babysitter." Justin said turning down the left pathway. "Let's go already."

They started down the path. It was a long and boring road. Every now and then Stank would point at some object and exclaim that it was a hidden death trap. Justin kept assuring Stank that the road had no death traps. After a while they came across a girl in an old fashion styled dress.

"Hello." the girl said. Stank thought this to be an odd question. Afterall they were standing right in front of her.

"What's the matter? Blind?" Stank laughed.

"As a matter of fact I am." the girl said annoyed. Stank stopped laughing. "I was wondering if you could help me. I need to take medicines back to my village. Please help me."

"Do we look like we have medicine>?" Justin said barely paying attention.

"Could you take me to a place that does then. We must make haste. I am afraid if we travel at night those we don't speak of will attack us." the girl felt around. She looked worried.

"We have more important thing to do. But if you go in that direction," Stank pointed toward the way they had just come from, "there's a baby in a stroller that i'm sure could help you. Come on Justin. Let's continue on." They started leaving.

"But wait. I couldn't see which way you pointed. I'm blind, remember?" the girl yelled at them.

"Did she say something." Justin asked.

"She couldn't talk. She was mute, remember. She told us." Stank said moving along the path.

"Oh yeah"

They made thier way further along the path. They saw a large building with flags and banners all over it. The went around the building and stopped at the edge of it.

"LOOK." Justin exclaimed. "THERE'S OUR FRIENDS!"

About twenty feet in front of them were Gersky, Melissa, Amy, and Gayle. They were all still in deep conversation.

"Let's go get them."

Stank and Justin moved toward thier friends. Thier fist punching thier other hand as they made thier way closer.

"OH NO YOU DON'T!!" Gersky yelled. He grabbed Gayle by the throat. "I have waited too long. You will not spoil the Dark Lord's plans." Then in the blink of an eye Gersky and Gayle vanished.

"Damn." Stank said. "You think he saw us coming?"

"Nah," Justin said. "We were too stealthy. Well what are we going to do now? Gersky could have taken Gayle anywhere."

"Look on the table." Stank said sitting down. "There's a message from Gayle."

They both stared at the table. Carved into it was the words: CITY OF ROY.

"I'll bet that's where they've gone." Stank said determined.

"Well then, it looks like we're going to ROY."

AN AVERAGE DAY AT THE PARK (part 1)

And so begins my story:

It was an average day, a day like any other. Our hero Stank had the day off work. He rolls over in his bed to find his girlfriend, Melissa, at the foot of the bed.

"What are you doing?"

"Kicking ass in Halo." replied Melissa.

"You're a girl, girls can't play Halo."

And with that Stank went to take a shower. When he got out he found his old pal Turner in his backyard.

"What's up T-Dogg?" Stank asked stepping out onto the back porch.

"Nothin'. Just bringing the money i owe you for our awesome trip to Chicago." Turner said.

"Yeah that's gonna rule"

"Where's girl?" Turner asked.

"She's playing Halo. I think she's trying to hide the fact that she's a girl." said Stank laughing

"Yeah. girl's have tats. Well i'm off to work. See ya Stank" Turner said waving as he stepped off the porch.

"Bye Turner"

Stank made his way back to his room. After several minutes of trying to get Melissa to stop killing people and take him to get a hair cut, he was off. While Stank stepped into Bo-rics Melissa went to CVS. During Stank's haircut he got a call from the wonder that is Gersky. However, Stank could not answer the phone because of the giant razor near his face.

Stank stepped out of Bo-rics. Looking very hot he picked up his phone and called Gersky.

"S'up nerd?" said Stank getting into Melissa's car.

"Nothing. Let's go to the park." Gersky answered.

"Sweet. We have to stop and get Amy."

"OK. Get Justin too."

In the matter of minutes everyone was in Melissa's car and headed for the park. They sat around at the picnic tables for awhile. Then Gersky, being the nerd that he is, got whiny and left.

"Where's he going?" asked Amy.

"Oh he won't be gone long." Stank said reassuringly.

"Hey, Stank." said Justin "Let's go into the woods and find sticks to beat nerd to death with."

"Why not."

Stank and Justin entered the dark and damp woods. While there Stank tought Justin of his great woodsmen skills. They chased down nut-throwing squirrles and set up a trap for Gersky.

"OK." said Stank. "When nerd steps right here i'll kick this fake tree on him."

Stank and Justin started laughing. They made thier way out of the woods.

"OH MY GOD!!!!" Stank and Justin said together.

When they got out of the woods the park was not how they left it. Instead of thier friends sitting where they left them they were all the way across the park. To top it all off Gayle was with them.

"I don't believe it." Justin exclaimed.

"Do you think we've gone into the future?" Stank asked staring around.

"We must have."

"What year do you think it is?" Stank asked. His eyes now focused completely on Justin.

"2039." Justin said with a serious look on his face. "The year Packistan took over."

Stank looked around. Justin was right. There was nothing but Packistanies all over the place. Stank could not understand how this could have happened.

"What do we do next?" Stank asked.

"Simple" Justin replied. "We must take the long way around the park, and spy on our 'friends'."

Stank gasped. "Not the long way. That's dangerous."

Justin nodded. "I know. But it's the only way to get to our friends unnoticed. We have to spy on them. We must save the future."

They stood in silence for a few seconds.

"Well" said Justin. "Let's go."

why do i live on like 5 hours of sleep?

My life is boring and that's why i update like once a year. Deal. So yeah i work everyday, all the time. I'll wake up at 11 go to work. get off at 10 go to girls. go home at 12-1. play halo until like 2-3. be on the internet until 4. go to bed and do it all over again. that is my life. if yours is more boring then you should just quit living right now.

HARRY POTTER. is it sad that the only reason i'm living is to find out what's going to happen in those damn books? i think when i finish the 7th book i'm going to beat myself over the head with it till i die or forget why i'm doing it. so the 6th book comes out friday (as you ALL should know), and i will be at borders at midnight to confirm my nerdyness.

in two weeks i will be going camping. it will be the best week ever. not only will i not have to work but i'll get to sleep with my girls. oh how i miss my girls. then it's off to chicago. i need to get shit ready for that damn vacation. since nerd is pretty much not going no one is doing anything to move this trip forward. so i'll end up going by myself and not returning.

Who was Billy Jean's lover?

Well i think that's all for now. i most likely have a lot more to say i just don't remember it cause it's like 2:30.

Hot Girl of the Month: Jen (seriously who doesn't love this girl?)

Keef Day

I'm in the mood to create something again. Now i know nothing good can come from this. I'll end up spending countless nights lying in bed on my computer playing with photoshop or talking to nerd. I will create nothing and even if i start i'll stop doing it in a week. I hate me.

So for those of you that care about my health read on, those that don't skip this part. My back started feeling better but every now and then i'll be in blinding pain for no reason. :( My headaches are still there. I'm going on like 8 months with these things. I also have some sort of cold thing going on. I think i'm dying.

So i work 50 hours this week. I don't like work, but i spent like $700 on bills today so i guess i have to go. The next week should be pretty cool. Nerd's going away party is wednesday. I will miss that nerd but i guess i should let him think he has other friends then me. Then on sunday i get to pick him up from the airport. Which should be interesting seeing as how i've never been to the airport. Monday is the MCChris concert. I love that never-hit-puberty bastard. Then off to the doctors on Tuesday.

And last if you have the new splinter cell you need to play with me sometime.

Hot Girl of the Day: Keef

OK so, i'm not going to tell you that i haven't updated in awhile because i'm sure you know this. Anyway thing have not been going good lately. Me and nerd have had a lot of trouble with camera shit. Finally i returned my camera and got a new one. It works fine and on Sunday we actually finished a movie. All that's left is to make the end credits and DVD menus and we're done with our second movie. We are showing it Saturday if anyone would like to come. If you miss it you can order a copy on DVD. I think it's a great movie.

TURNER RULES!

HAPPY NERD DAY!

Hot girl of the day: Katie Holmes
